Talk about giving and receiving favours with 〜て あげます/もらいます/くれます, and use くれます for things given to your side.

give (to me / my side). Used instead of あげます when someone gives something to the speaker's side.
例
Ms. Sato gave me a Christmas card.
Do something for someone (a favour). Can sound patronising to a superior — use 〜ましょうか instead.

Have someone do something for you (you benefit).

Mr. Yamada told me the number.
Someone does something for me / my side (I benefit; the に-marked わたし is usually omitted).

Make the object the topic (は); the giver / subject is marked by が.
